Product Description

From the creator of The Very Hungry Caterpillar comes a brilliant new Eric Carle board book for the artist in us all.

Every child has an artist inside them, and this vibrant picture book from Eric Carle will help let it out. The artist in this book paints the world as he sees it, just like a child. There''s a red crocodile, an orange elephant, a purple fox and a polka-dotted donkey. More than anything, there''s imagination. Filled with some of the most magnificently colorful animals of Eric Carle''s career, this new board book edition is a tribute to the creative life and celebrates the power of art.

Praise for  The Artist Who Painted A Blue Horse

* "A testimony to Carle''s gifts..." -- Publishers Weekly, starred review

* "Simple and splendid." -- Booklist, starred review

"Another masterpiece from a master artist." -- School Library Journal

We bought this book for our 15 month old after borrowing it from our local public library. The book is a tribute to Franz Marc and the freedom of creative expression. My little one loves the bright colors and unexpected animals (red crocodile, polka dotted donkey). It''s a simple quick read and we throw in animal noises to enhance the story. When we retuned the book, my little guy kept going to where we keep the library books pointing and crying. Thank goodness for Amazon Prime because we had the book again two days later. This is one we visit daily!

My son and I have enjoyed reading many of Eric Carle''s wonderful books since he was born (he''s almost 3 now) and this book is no exception. This book is particularly special for us because my son really loves horses and for some reason or another he recently went through about a 4-month spell where he kept telling me he wanted a "blue horse" (I think maybe it is because there is a blue horse in ''Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you Hear?''). So this book was like a dream come true for him. He loves to look at and comment on every animal/illustration in the book, and of course he especially loves the blue horse. So, in short, fans of Eric Carle (big and small) won''t be disappointed with this latest installment.

2 1/2 months ago I had a beautiful baby girl. The holidays just passed, and I had no clue what to ask for for my little pumpkin, so I made a wish list of all my old children''s book favorites from my childhood. But then I wanted to get baby Violeta a book from this year. I had found this book on Amazon. It had good reviews, and was a top seller this year. I reviewed it online and loved it. Now we read it to Violeta nearly every day. As soon as we hold the from cover up to her and read "The Artist Who Painted a Blue Horse" a huge smile spreads across her face. She gets so excited when she sees the bright colors as we read, kicking her legs and "cooing". I love the fact that the book opens up a child''s imagination with images like a black polar bear. I also love that it''s simple, with few words, which will later allow our child to read along with us and suggest lines like "a...RED!...alligator". "Very good, a RED ALLIGATOR!!" Overall I love this book and would suggest it to any parent.
